Headai invited to speak at OECD conference

As a pioneer in the field, Headai wants to lead the discussion on upskilling and tackling skills mismatch

What are your methods of upskilling this year?

Most of us need upskilling in near future. This is something we at Headai have been saying over the past five years, long before covid. Even in 2016, Harri Ketamo held his TedxTalk about AI and its possibilities for fixing globally broken education. To keep up with the rapid change of work, we need to harness the scattered big data from the job market and education and use Cognitive AI to build the current big picture and to predict future change.

HeadAI took an important step towards solving the skills mismatch equation already in 2017 by winning the all-time-biggest innovation challenge in Finland, Ratkaisu100 (Solution100) that was arranged by The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. After that, we have been working with multiple customers to solve their challenges in making the right strategic steps towards the future. The old ways of predicting the future do not work, we need a more flexible and dynamic approach – different horizons are needed, long, medium, but also fast predictions. It is necessary to understand that these work differently, and we have to be careful to choose the right data sources that really correspond to the right timeframe.

Virtual conference by OECD

Now in 2022, reskilling and upskilling are super relevant themes. Headai will join the discussion at Innovative Approaches for Future-Ready Adult Learning Systems virtual conference that is held on 31 Jan & 1 Feb. We will share our insights in the session “Leveraging technology in adult learning” on 31 Jan 5:30–6:30 PM (CET). The panel of experts:

  • Manoj Chawla, Cognizant Education Practice, Associate Director- Consulting
  • Harri Ketamo, HeadAI, Founder
  • Riaz Shah, EY, Global Learning Leader
  • Annelore Verhagen, OECD, Junior labour market economist

Futureproofing nations and organizations

Where the job markets are struggling with the lack of skilled people, educational institutions are in a hurry to create new operating models for the need for continuous learning and understanding the changes in global skills demand. In both of these sectors, we provide solutions to get data-driven binoculars and see the future trends. We need a continuous reading of expanding textual big data, creative thinking, some complex calculation, and finally, visualizations and reports to support data-driven decision-making.

Below, you will find two example customer cases where an areal skills mismatch has been analyzed and visualized into skills maps by Headai.

Futureproofing individuals

Futureproofing means different things for different people – someone wants to find a job right away and ensure that his/her skills profile is descriptive enough and aligned with job market language. Another one wants to graduate in 3-5 years and optimize course choices according to the presumable skill demand in three years from now. The third one wants to supplement the current skill portfolio. Automatizing the optimization of these kinds of processes needs the understanding of how to use big, scattered data resources, and perform complex calculations. Headai has been doing this with our customers for the last five years.

The world is not ready, so it is important to have a shared discussion on the topic with various actors in the upcoming conference. Our vision is that world succeeds in finding the answers that drive sustainable economic growth.

Today, at Headai we help customers across diverse industries see the big picture in scattered data by revealing unknown connections and even explaining why they exist. We live and breathe to reveal previously unknowable answers that help organizations succeed in a rapidly changing future.

About Innovative Approaches for Future-Ready Adult Learning Systems

Dates: Jan 31 & Feb 1,  2022
Showtimes: Between 3:00 6:30 PM (CET). Headai showtime 31 Jan 5:30 PM (CET)
Location: Virtual Conference

The purpose of the conference is described on their website as follows:

“The COVID-19 pandemic led to job loss for many adults. Some of these jobs will not be recovered, given the accelerated adoption of new technologies during the pandemic and changes in consumption habits and work preferences. There is an urgent need for adults to upskill and retrain in new jobs and sectors. But the OECD Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC) suggests that less than half of adults in European countries and the US participate in training. Adults who are lower-skilled or older are also much less likely to train than their peers.

The 2022 online conference “Innovative approaches for future-ready adult learning systems” will bring together experts and practitioners to discuss the latest innovations in adult learning in Europe and the US. The virtual conference will be held over two days, and will include presentations from the OECD, expert panels, and discussion tables. Sessions will be in English.”
